NHL Rule Changes Affect Hockey Betting
by
Mike Hayes
While most gamblers would bet on a cockroach race if they thought they could collect with any regularity the same cannot be said for wagering on the National Hockey League which attracts a very small percentage of the betting dollar. Significant rule changes, however, have resulted in significant changes in betting on hockey -- changes which might make wagering on NHL action a more attractive option in the future.

Fantasy Hockey and the "New" NHL
by
Katherine Dykstra
The "New" NHL returned in 2005/06 weighed down by a considerable amount of question marks: Would the fans bounce back? Would the salary cap have the right affect on small-market teams and bolster their competitiveness? Would the league's clamp down on obstruction be persistent? And the biggest question of all, would Keith Tkachuk super size his order at McDonald's? Here are my conclusions to these questions from last seasons NHL.

NHL Draft: Despite No Notable Picks, the San Jose Sharks Still Had A Productive Draft
by
Scott Semmler
The San Jose Sharks went out on a limb on Draft Day 2011 and acquired defenseman Brent Burns from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for winger Devin Setoguchi, top forward prospect Charlie Coyle and their 28th overall draft pick. Heading into the 2011 NHL Draft, the focus for the Sharks was centered around building for the future. That is exactly what the Sharks achieved without even owning a first-round pick at the end of the day.

NHL 2005: Who To Bet On
by
Robert Ferringo
In the last 12 months the National Hockey League has undergone as massive of an overhaul as any sports league in the last half century. With revamped rules, a restructured salary system and a new television partner, professional hockey is the shell of the sport that locked its doors a year ago. The changes reflect the NHL's new mantra - more scoring, increased parity and cost certainty.

Niklas Lidstrom's 7th Norris Proves NHL Awards Voting Is Flawed
by
Alex J Vanderkuur
With Niklas Lidstrom's 7th Norris Trophy Award, the NHL Awards show voting appears flawed. Having a sub-par season, Lidstrom beat out many other, much better performing Defensemen for the prestigious award.

Nail Yakupov, 2012 1st Overall NHL Draft Pick
by
C. W. Watson
The Edmonton Oiler's brass couldn't get up to the Pittsburgh podium fast enough to select Nail Yakupov, 2012 1st overall NHL draft pick. It had been widely speculated that the Oilers were targeting defenseman, Ryan Murray of the Everett Silvertips with their 1st overall pick but in the end they just couldn't pass on the talented Russian right winger.

by
Tom Samworth
The 1990 NHL Entry Draft is historic for producing Jaromir Jagr and Martin Brodeur in the first round. Both are destined for the Hockey Hall of Fame when they finally end their careers. However, beyond the second round, there were also four players picked that played over 1,000 games in the NHL.
