Jim Leyland Is The Tiger On This Team!
by
Dr. Gary S. Goodman
Veteran manager Jim Leyland criticized his Detroit Tigers team for lackluster play in an unusual press conference, yesterday. This journeyman leader said his guys played as if they had already packed their bags for the forthcoming road trip and the current game was unimportant. This is just the kind of management that baseball needs, says Dr. Gary S. Goodman, noted sales, service, and success consultant and author of the popular audio program, "The Law of Large Numbers: How To Make Success Inevitable," published by Nightingale-Conant.

Leyland Pushing all the Right Buttons
by
Dennis Macklin
It's looking more and more like the Detroit Tigers are this year's MLB team of destiny. The team that is just three years removed from a 119 loss season and finished this year by winning just six of its final 24 road games is only two wins away from going to the World Series.

All-Star Game Is A Misfit For Ozzie
It Has Hurt The White Sox
by
Dr. Gary S. Goodman
The worst thing that could happen to the Chicago White Sox in June and early July wasn't dumping games to the likes of Pittsburgh and to Baltimore, though that's bad enough. It's having their bizarre, colorful, and often vitriolic skipper, Ozzie Guillen, be selected as the American League's Manager in the All-Star Game. The last thing this guy, or the Sox need is more of a spotlight on the Wizard of Oz, or is it The Wizard of Odd? His running off at the mouth is legendary, and he's always popping off about how this or that season will be his last. But now, he has to be good, like the class clown whose parents have finally shown up at school to sit next to him. Oz isn't used to this sort of expectation or scrutiny. This guy has been managing outside of his comfort zone for the better part of a month. With one eye peeled on the All-Star roster and the other on the press, Ozzie has been more than slightly distracted, an the Sox are paying the price, says Dr. Gary S. Goodman, top speaker, seminar producer, best-selling author, and Fortune 1000 consultant.

Abandon Interleague Play Now!
by
Dan Kriner
Interleague play starts this weekend and Jim Leyland said that interleague play has run it's course, is he right? Leyland was complaining about having to go into NL cities and not being able to use his DH while having his pitcher hit; although I think that the DH aspect would be more detrimental to the NL teams. NL teams don't typically have bench guys that would be equal to a DH, but pitchers are typically poor hitters in either league. Maybe he's still a little bitter over having his Tigers go into a 1 game playoff with the Twins in 2009 and lose, but he may have a point in general.

2006 Detroit Tigers Preview
by
Jack Scrafford
About the only good news for Detroit Tigers fans in 2005 occurred at the end of the season. In October it was announced that Jim Leyland was coming out of retirement and had accepted the Tigers managerial job.

The White Sox Are Wondering: "What Happened?"
by
Dr. Gary S. Goodman
An old chum of mine, a former athlete and employee at Indiana State University, was fond of saying there are three kinds of people: (1) Those who make things happen; (2) Those who watch things happen; and (3) Those who scratch their heads and wonder: "What happened?" The Chicago White Sox, you know them, they were last year's World Series Champions, have traversed these three categories in little more than half a season, says Dr. Gary S. Goodman, top speaker, Fortune 1000 consultant, and best-selling author of 12 books and more than 750 articles.

2006 World Series: May The Best Manager Win!
by
Dr. Gary S. Goodman
I've been singing the praises of Jim Leyland, Detroit Tigers manager, nearly since the season began, and certainly after he publicly chastised his Boys of Spring for lackluster play with just several days of competition under their belts. He not only told them how high is up, but that they had better keep jumping all season long. And except for a few missteps here and there, they've responded on cue. Now, they're the American League Champs and headed for the World Series. One of two other effective managers might meet Leyland and Company at that historic venue: Willie Randolph of the Mets, or Tony LaRussa of the Cards. Both of these guys are top notch, though LaRussa has far more post-season experience as a manager than Randolph, who is new to the game in that capacity. Still, they're savvy and up for the challenge, according to Dr. Gary S. Goodman, top speaker, best-selling author, and expert guest on Fox Sports Radio and hundreds of radio and TV stations, worldwide.

Motivational Speaker Asks: Are You Finally Tired Enough of Losing?
by
Dr. Gary S. Goodman
This year's Detroit Tigers own baseball's highest winning percentage, at least at this point in the season, with about a third of the games in the record book. The Tigers are a franchise that hasn't been competitive for DECADES. What happened, enabling this squad to reverse its fortunes? They made some smart personnel moves, but more important, according to best-selling author and sales and motivational speaker Dr. Gary S. Goodman, "They simply grew sick and tired of losing and they resolved to change the pattern."

Baseball Prediction: The 2006 White Sox Will Settle For The Wild Card
by
Dr. Gary S. Goodman
Detroit is unstoppable; let's face it, fellow Chicago White Sox fans. The Sox have the second best record in all of baseball, in the National and the American leagues. But Detroit will edge them out for the Central Division Championship this year. That's my prediction and I'm sticking to it. I say this for five solid reasons, says Dr. Gary S. Goodman, top sales and motivational speaker, best-selling author, and consultant to the Fortune 1000.

The Tigers Will Hang On For Playoffs
by
T.O. Whenham
The Detroit Tigers, easily the most surprising story of the season so far, are slipping. They still have the best record in the league (though the red-hot Mets are about to catch up to them), but they have lost eight of their last 12 games and 14 of the last 21.
