by
Kelvin Ryan
Hari Raya Haji is a national holiday in Malaysia. This holiday is also known as Aidil Adha and is celebrated in October. Hari Raya is celebration for Muslims around the world. The celebration lasts 4 days and is held to honor the fact that Abraham offered his son Ishmael up to the Lord as instructed. Of course, this was a test of obedience to God's word and when the Lord saw that Abraham was so willing, he did not make Abraham sacrifice his son. Hari Raya also marks the end of the fasting month, where the people abstain from alcohol, smoking and sexual relations.
