Dussehra is one of the most important festivals in Hindu culture. It is celebrated on the last day of Navratri (10th day of the crescent moon), as per the Hindu calendar. It occurs in the Hindu month of Ashvin. Dussehra is celebrated as the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon God Mahishasura. The festival also marks the great victory that Lord Ram achieved by defeating the demon King of Lanka, Ravana. People celebrate this festival with a lot of zest, devotion and vigor. On this occasion, effigies of the demon king Ravana are burnt all across India.
