As I write this article, it is one year to the day that we buried my mom at sea off the gulf coast in Florida. My mom had a tough life and suffered lasting effects from being abused by an alcoholic mother during her childhood. She put up a great fight in overcoming the challenges of her childhood and gave her best efforts during her 20's and 30' as she raised her children. However, during the last twenty years of her life, she lost her way with her own battle with alcoholism. I have often wondered if things could have been different for her if she just had found the right process to deal with the regular fear and anxiety I sensed she lived with because of a childhood in an abusive and alcoholic home. This article is dedicated to my mom, Sharon L. Iveson. I know she is smiling down on me now as she helps others find new homes as they enter the gates of heaven. I hope this article helps you better deal with you fears and anxieties and guides you to find a better path for the full duration of your life!
