How Social Media Worked for Calgary's New Mayor
by
Ron Strand
Calgary, a city of about a million people in western Canada, elected a new mayor this week. Naheed Nenshi beat two other leading candidates by a wide margin after trailing in the early polls. One of the keys to success for Nenshi was the well-planned and executed social media strategy from the beginning stages of the campaign.

Hello from Banff - A Howling Adventure: Dog sledding with Snowy Owl Tours
by
Susanne Pacher
On a crisp winter day, our coldest day so far, with a brilliant blue sky, I got going early at about 7:15 am and drove about 20 minutes from Banff to the tourist town of Canmore. This mountain town is located about an hour from Calgary, just 5 minutes outside the gates to the Banff National Park and is part of Kananaskis County , one of the main recreational areas just outside of Calgary. The Nakiska Ski area is not far from Canmore and it played host to the alpine events during the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics.

Tips From a Property Management Professional on Selling Your Investment Property
by
Shamon Kureshi
The housing slump of the past few years has lent itself to the invention of the Accidental Landlord. Loosely defined, an Accidental Landlord is somebody who has attempted to sell a property at a price that the market deemed as being unrealistic, and as a defensive maneuver, has elected to rent out. The good news of course is that the trend of house prices spiraling downward seems to be at its end.

Why Choose A Custom Made Engagement Ring?
by
L R Lindsay
It used to be that when you wanted to buy an engagement ring, you simply went to the jewelry store and picked one of several different types. Rings tended to look relatively similar, with diamond size being the biggest difference.

Twitter is all the rage with those active in the online world. Sending out tweet after tweet, updating their twitter followers regularly on their status, where they are at, what they are doing, where they are going and who they are meeting. The big question that many marketing professionals are asking today is. Can Twitter will be effective as a prime time tool in mainstream marketing.

We Are Blessed
by
Dan Giercke
Falling on the heels of another American election, today I want to reflect on why I'm so proud to be a Canadian. I've always had a strong sense of patriotism, and love for the country I was born into. I know that those of us living in free countries ought to know that we are blessed. If you've never travelled beyond the borders of North America this may be a bit of a challenge to understand. I've had the good fortune to be able to travel and visit a number of other countries around the globe, and have on my list of goals to visit them all! What those travels have clarified for me, is how grateful and fortunate I am to be living where I do.
