Bakrid Festival in Kerala

All over Kerala, the Muslim community celebrates Bakrid, the great celebration. It usually falls on the tenth day of Lunar year. The celebration is conducted in remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim who was willing to kill his only son Ismail by the command of God. When he was about to kill his son, God send a goat inside of killing him. As a remembrance of this act Muslims sacrifices a goat or Bakr (Urdu).

Cheraman Juma Masjid - Kerala, India

Cheraman Juma Masjid is the oldest mosque in India. It is located in Methala village on the outskirts of Kodungalloor in the state of Kerala. Built in 629 AD, it is the world's second oldest mosque where Juma prayers are held, since the days of Prophet Mohammad. People from all over the world irrespective of their religion, caste and creed make a visit to mosque all through the year.
